I was a Donor few of months ago. Since last month, I am not able to see Donor forum or see my membership as "Donor". Wondering if there are any changes made to qualify one as "Donor"?

I see. And did you attached any documents with that statement?
Nothing other than the supporting docs:
1. expired I-94 from passport
2. 2 photos (with A# written in pencil on the back)
3. copy of I-485 receipt
4. sheet with answer to part 7 (including name and a# in header)
5. check made out to "Department of Homeland Security"

I think it is only for Mumbai Consulate(as mentioned in VFS (http://www.vfs-usa.co.in)).
"For Mumbai consular district applicants only: Drop off your required documents three working days prior to your appointment at a VFS Application Centre in Mumbai, Pune or Ahmedabad."
No where it is mentioned that HYD consulate has started. Where did you find it?

Scenario: I was working for company A on H1 (valid until 2010) and filed a GC through a company B (Head Hunter Company) for future employment, I have my 140 approved, and 485 was filed June 2007, have an EAD/AP. Got a RFE for intent of employment was satisfied with a letter from Company B that "I intend to join company B subject to my favourable adjudiciation". Company A is going under because of lack of funds.
Questions:
Now I am searching for a job, I am getting job offers.
1) Either I will do a contract through through Company B for which I do not have to anything in terms of immigration right?
2) But if I strart working for Company C's payroll then I am going to have to do an AC21 right or can I still hang on to company B.
3) If I do AC21 through company C and if the Job description is pretty close to the description on the LC then would it be okay or do I fear rejection? Or will I be asked why I did not work for the company who filed for my GC in the first place.
Please throw some light on the best option I have.

Thanks for the suggestions Fred! I applied a bit more sharpening to the head, I think it's not so OOF looking now. I'll have a go at cloning out the twigs later, it looks a bit difficult but it could be fun trying.

If your 485 is denied, all derivative benefits like EAD/AP are also lost. You therefore can't use EAD for another job even if 6 months have elapsed.

The aim of advocacy day was to meet lawmakers. It was not really for media publicity. It was not a rally. Infact we canceled the press event that we originally planned to focus on lawmaker meetings. There are already hundreds of articles in the media on Greencard backlogs published in the last 4 years. Articles will anyways be published when there is activity in DC on this issue. Reporters contact us every now and then for stories. The most important work we need to do is meet our lawmakers in person and get relief on Immigration. We believe we have been very successful in the task of meeting lawmakers and administration officials during the advocacy days. This will help us in the Immigration reform next year. We now need to continually work on reinforcing and advocating our changes until the bill comes on the floor. You will see lots of media articles on this issue when there is any discussion on relief in the months to come.

You will have to staple the old passport to the newer one and carry both of them at all times. The visas on the previous passport will not be transferred over to the new passport.

Dear All,
1. Can someone please let me know what I should take with me when I meet the USCIS civil surgeon? Who gives the Form - I-693? My lawyer has not attached that form in her mails to me? Does the hospital provide or should I take one with me myself?
2. How is the procedure usually with the USCIS civil Surgeon? What does the surgeon do and how is the examination like?
Please help me understand this process better. I am aware of the vaccinations I should take but I am not aware of the procedure with the surgeons.

Can we use automatic revalidation to enter USA without getting our visa's stamped. My h1 expired in 2006 and my spouse�s H4 expired in 2006.
(Remember my spouse is applying for H1 )
ANSWER:: No, with Canadian GC you can not enter USA for long term work, without stamping. I think entry for one month is permitted.
QUESTION:: How safe it is Frequent travel to Canada and back
ANSWER:: It is safe to cross US and Canada border, if you have multiple entry visa.
QUESTION:: How safe it is to stay in Canada for duration of 3-6 months and come back to USA
ANSWER:: As long as you are in H1 B there is no restriction. In future if you enter I-485, there are complications, if you continue to travel back and forth at that time too.

Hi,
I was let go by my company and am still under payroll for another month. I am told that once I am off the payroll, the company has to tell the lawyer to cancel my H1B.
Is there anyway that I could extend my H1B for a smooth H1B transfer to a new company? as I am still looking for a good offer at this stage.
And how long does it take for the government to process the cancellation of the H1B? And during that process if another company comes in and is willing to sponsor, would that be a smooth process?

The Barack Obama Administration recently announced that border guards at United States Ports of Entry (POE) will begin screening aliens arriving from certain countries based on specific information about threats to the USA. The immigration attorneys at Los Angeles' Fong & Chun immigration law firm are advocates for national security balanced against sensible protections for civil rights. We hope this change will reduce the number of unwarranted, unreasonable, and (usually) unfriendly challenges to certain arriving visitors.
Since the New York terrorist attack in September 2001, the USA has maintained a list of approximately fourteen countries (the so-called "group of fourteen") which are considered to encourage state-sponsored terrorism, or which are believed to provide assistance to terrorists. The US would not even officially name the specific countries, or confirm the exact number of countries, on the list. All citizens of one of these countries -- of any gender, any age, any social class, any educational level, for any reason -- would be subjected to additional interrogation by US Border Guards.
The newly-announced change sets up a system which uses intelligence information and threat assessment -- about specific persons, specific targets, and specific descriptions, to identify passengers who might have a link to terrorism. Quite properly, those persons would be subjected to additional scrutiny. Others who do not meet the more reasoned threat profiles would be allowed to enter the USA in the way of other visitors.
For example: most people in the know would say that the Islamic Republic of Iran was part of the group of fourteen. All citizens from Iran -- absolutely all -- would be pulled aside and interrogated at POEs. Under the new system, if the US has specific information about a 26-year old male Iranian student, or an Iranian woman with a certain name, or even someone with a partial passport number, then persons meeting those descriptions will be pulled aside. Hi Old Monk and GC.....Thank you for your reply. I am canadian citizen by naturalization. Is it a fast process for naturalization (not by birth) Canadian Citizen too? I havn't applied for I-765. As right now, my husband has no intention me to work in USA. Suppose in future if I decide to work...Can I work once my GC will approve, or do I have to have file I-765 to get permission to work?
Its been only one week, since I have mailed my I-485 to Chicago office. I havn't got my reciept yet. So,will wait for another week or so. As someone said on this forum usually it takes 10 days to get the receipt. My question is once I get my receipt can I apply for Social Security and Driving Licence? Can I leave the country to visit my family back home too? Or do I have to wait untill I get my Permanent residence card? As per GC or lets hope for canadian citizen it takes 6-9 months to approve their case. TIA.

say for EB3 the visa date is nov 2001 and if a person X with a pd of mar/2003 applies for his 485 on july 2007 ...will his case be processed ??
(In other words - will they even touch his file or will they wait for the visa dates to become current before touching the file ??)

hi, first, I'm not trolling. I have a genuine question and I'm looking for answers seriously. I got laid off in 2009 while on a h1b and then for one reason or another, stayed back for 8 months. My understanding was that I could have gotten a new job within 6 months and then switched over my h1b. I was foolish. My I-94 on the h1b approval letter however had an expiration date of October 2011. By the time 8 months had gone by, I decided it was time to give up hope and return to my country.
Since I've been here, my parents have started a campaign to get me a bride. Arranged marriages are part of my culture, and people marry based on how good a match it is according to one's birthchart. If I do find a USC who is willng too marry me, will it help me in any way immigration wise? Or will my 8 months out of status stay in USA chase me for the rest of my life?
